Why is my cat twitching her back after flea and tick medicine?

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | unspayed | 11 months and 26 days old | 7 lbs

We put flea and tick medicine on my cat and ever since she has been twitching her back. It is for cats and it's also the first time we have ever put it on her.

It may be irritating her, as the liquid is somewhat oily and may have a small sensation while it's getting absorbed. Cats are well-known to be meticulous groomers and will be irritated by this, because they cannot lick the area where the medicine was applied. If it's just some twitching of the skin, then I would not be too concerned and would expect her to stop this within a day or two. If she had twitching in other parts of the body, or seizure activity, then I'd be concerned that she is having a reaction to the medication. If this is the case, or the twitching persists for longer than two days, then it's best to have your vet evaluate Minnie. I hope that helps and all is well with Minnie.
