Why isn't my cat's eye opening fully? There's a flap under her lid.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My cat has a flesh-coloured flap under her top eyelid. It isn't noticeable unless inspecting her eye and lifting the lid. Her eye is not being opened fully because of this problem. My two vets have never seen it before. Do you have an idea of what it could be?

Without actually examining her eye, it is very difficult to know what is causing her problem. If your vets can't diagnose than she should be examined by a veterinary ophthalmologist to diagnose and determine if treatment is needed.
