Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 2 months old | 30 lbs

My dog is a little over a year old. he is a pointer fiest mix and has never had breathing problems. yesterday after he would get excited it would sound like he had something stuck in his nose. when we went to bed he was snoring and would randomly wake up and do like a reverse sneezing sound. could this be something like a cold or worse? we're taking him to the vet tomorrow but id like to know what to expect.

It could be an infection or possibly a polyp. He is probably reverse sneezing because of inflammation or irritation. Your vet can do an examination to diagnose and then determine the best way to treat the problem. If he has an infection, your vet can prescribe an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory to treat.
