My unspayed cat has been in heat for a month. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hi doctor i have a female cat who is around 2 and half years old. Doctor,Normally when she has heat it would last only for a week but now she is been crying all through for a month now. She rolls over the floor more often these days. She eats and drinks. She is not spayed. She doesn't stay inactive though. She is more restless now.

Can they can have repetitive heat one after another one lasting more than one week. More extended period showing these signs may be due to abnormal ovaries (usually ovaric cysts) hyperproducing estrogen. I would suggest to have checked, eventually have an ultrasound performed and have her spayed.
