Noticed a hard mass near my dog's anus. Female beagle german shepard mix breed and 13 yrs old. Should we be concerned? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 52 lbs

Any firm mass or nodule in a senior pet can be case for concern. You can monitor it for rapid change or growth. See your veterinarian if you notice any changes or if it cause discomfort or impedes function. After a physical exam, your veterinarian can perform a fine needle aspirate to collect a sample for pathology. Treatment, if indicated, will depend on the results of the exam and diagnostics.
