My dog had fleas (not bad but still had them). I washed him in shampoo the pet store gave me. Now he has no fleas but is still itching and has soooo much dandruff/flaky skin where the fleas caused his skin to go red. It's been 3 weeks. Is this too soon to wash him again in oatmeal shampoo? He's annoyed by the itchy but when I check the areas he's scratching, it's just lots and lots of flaky skin...almost like scab from the flea scratching...

You can certainly wash Gryff in the oatmeal shampoo now, but that will not cure the fleas. He needs flea medication for it, and I can give you a flea treatment program. First, I would give him Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas within 30 minutes. Then follow up with a spot on treatment, such as Advantage or Revolution. This is a treatment that has to be used once a month. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash his bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home.
