How do I train my friendly puppy to stop jumping on strangers?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 9 months and 23 days old

My puppy is way too friendly. It's to the extent where he jumps on random strangers. How can I get him to tone it down?

Many young, friendly dogs have this problem :) I would recommend keeping Beaux on-leash around strangers to prevent him from being able to rush over and jump on them, and rewarding him with treats for sitting calmly when people are around. As long as you are patient and consistent, he will learn over time to sit quietly and control himself around people. If you have trouble with this, I would suggest getting in touch with a good reward-based trainer who can give you some hands-on guidance.
