My dog has an abscess and I can't afford the vet. What are my options?

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Male | 10 years and 3 months old | 20 lbs

My doxie has a large abscess on his chest from a dog fight injury and it broke open the vet wont see him unless i have money up front, she said he could have a half of baby asprin, i have been cleaning it with saline water and wraped it with white gauze, what else can i do to help him.

In order to treat the abscess, Diggerjoe also needs antibiotics, which can only be given by prescription from the vet. I will give you a number of resources that may help you afford a vet. You can see if there is another vet in your area who will accept payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. There is also an organization called Red Rover that give grants for treatment of sick animals, and you can see if you qualify for one of their grants.
