My new cockatiel is quiet, sneezing, and sleeping. Is he sick?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male

Hi, I have 4 cockatiels. 2 of them are new, we have had about week and a half. One of them is really quiet, he keeps on sneezing all the time but he’s not snotty or anything and he just likes to keep himself to himself and when he’s not eating or drinking he’s asleep. Haven’t had this with the other 3 so I’m not sure if he’s not well, and he doesn’t step up or anything yet, he’s proving hard work! So I don’t think I could get him to a vet to be looked at there

If Salt is otherwise acting normal and continuing to eat and drink then I would not be to concerned about him keeping to himself. He is likely just stressed and anxious with his new situation and is still getting used to his surroundings. I would continue interactions with him as much as possible to get him used to you. If you feel like he is lethargic, breathing heavily, or not eating well, then I would recommend taking him to be examined by your vet. Otherwise, just give him some time to adjust and hopefully he will open up to you. Thanks for your question! Let us know if you need any additional information.
