Most puppies get worms from their mother through both the placenta and milk. Signs that a puppy has worms including distended abdomen, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and possibly pale mucous membranes. Puppies are typically dewormed at 2, 4, 6, 8, weeks of age with a broad spectrum dewormer, like pyrantel pamoate, and a stool sample should also be tested for parasites.
