Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | spayed | 10 years and 1 month old | 6 lbs
My small dog (about 6 lbs) ate about 20 pieces of uncooked bowtie pasta (with glitter, it was an art project). We caught her after she finished eating. The glitter is non toxic, but I'm worried if the uncooked pasta, and its sharp edges, will scratch and cut her throats and insides. Also worried about the pasta expanding in her stomach. As for now, we decided to not feed her anything and not give her any water. Do you have any recommendations on what to do to help her?

I do not think this will be a problem. Dogs have many mucus glands in their throat and esophagus, so that the pasta will be well lubricated when it gets into the stomach and there will be no harm. Watch for glittery poop ;-) . You should give her water as well as food. She will be fine.

That was naughty of Kotono to eat the art project! I would not withhold water from her, but I wouldn't allow her to drink a lot of it. Her stomach acid should break down the pasta, and hopefully it will pass without problem. You can give her a half a slice of whole wheat bread now and with every meal to form a ball of ingesta around the uncooked pasta to cushion it as it passes through the intestinal tract. You may see some stomach upset in the form of diarrhea or vomiting due to the pasta, and should you see that, I would withhold food for 12-24 hours. Then feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. After that, slowly add back in her normal diet.
