My cat was shot, still sneezing and breathing heavily. Antibiotic duration?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My cat was shot by an airgun. The pellet went next to his nose inside his troat. The vet removed the pellet, and gave 3 days antibiotic injections (amoxilin). My cat is breathing heavily and sneezing. I was adviced to give amoxilin tablets as well but coulnt advice for how long. Please help.

I would certainly check with your vet, but I normally recommend 2 weeks of antibitoics for that kind of trauma. If the sneezing and heaving breathing is continuing while on the antibiotics, gets worse or returns when you have finished the antibiotics, then I would recommend that your vet examines him again. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
