Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | 10 years and 1 month old | 11 lbs
My 10yo in+outdoor female (fixed post 1 litter), over past couple months has had an occasional nonproductive cough. She's a gray, short hair (maybe a bit of Blue Russian), named Shadow. Shadow is slightly plump, mostly by build and slightly a little extra weight. There's been no change in wt, appetite, fluid intake, energy (has regular rounds of playfulness), or changes in breathing (though occasionally faintly snores, for a number of years now) & has no other signs of distress. Possible causes?

The most common cause of a non-productive cough in a cat is asthma. I am attaching a link to a handout on asthma below. https://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=665 There are certainly other potential causes, but I would recommend starting with an exam with your veterinarian along with blood work, chest x-rays and a fecal sample. Based on those results, you can discuss any potential treatment options. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using PetCoach.
