Kitten accidentally got too much Metacam post-spay. What to watch for?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | British Shorthair | Female | spayed | 4 months and 7 days old

Hello, my kitten (17 weeks) was prescribed metacam after being spayed. The dosage was 1.75ml daily for 5 days. For the first two I used 3.75 by mistake. I have scrapped the last 3 days on the advice of my vet. He seems to think she will be fine but I want a second opinion. Thanks

In cats it is very difficult to predict how they will react to a metacam overdose, some will be fine, others will have serious side effects just from a slight overdose. most chances are she will be fine as your vet told you, but you need to watch for a few symptoms such as vomiting, lack of appetite, increased thirst and urination and lethargy. if any of those occur it could be related to the metacam and in such a case you would need to take Cassle to the vet ASAP.
