Can my cat have side effects from Tumil-K potassium supplements?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 18 years and 1 month old | 9.5 lbs

Hello tony began taking potassium supplements today, tumil- k. Will there likely be side effects? He is currently also on amlodipine and methimazole. Thank you!!

The great news is that this supplement will not cause side effects (unless Tony has some rare allergy to the flavoring or something). Kidney disease causes the kidneys to “waste” potassium so that blood levels become too low. We compensate by adding potassium to the diet with a supplement like tumil-k. It is very safe and can make improvements in how Tony feels. Best of luck to you and Tony!

    Correct! I would not be concerned about giving him Tumil-K if your vet said his potassium is low. Of course, if he ate the whole tube then I would be concerned with a HIGH potassium which can cause problems with his heart and muscles. I would try to have his potassium checked periodically with your vet to help monitor his progress.
