How to stop my puppy's aggressive biting, growling, and grooming?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Male | unneutered | 7 months and 30 days old | 8.7 lbs

I have a 7 month maltese and whenever he gets a tissue or something he is not supposed to have, he growls and starts aggressively biting until the point where he cuts us with his teeth because he won't let go of our finger. He also bites the same at the groomers. We took him to the groomers a week ago and we got a call saying we need to pick him up because she can't finish her job since he was biting so much. We ended up picking him up with half his body shaved. Any advice? Thanks

It sounds like Icy wants to be the boss of everyone! I’m sorry you are dealing with this. He is still young enough that there is hope to Change his behavior, but it is going to take a lot of work. If you really want him to improve then I would contact your veterinarian for a recommendation for a veterinary behaviorist in your area. If there isn’t one then you lr veterinarian can recommend a good trainer. They will evaluate the situation and make training recommendations. This will take months with likely several follow up appointments. Repitition and consistency is important. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon! Thank you for using Pet Coach.
