My cat keeps throwing up. What can I do if the vet is closed at night?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 6 months old

My cat vomited twice when I got home today. One was food and the other was liquid. probably water. I tried giving him food again and he threw up again. He was his usual self when I got home though. But right now he is sleeping and I don't know if I should be really worried. He was okay when left. I know the usual answer is "take him to the vet asap". But where I'm at there isn't an accessible vet this time of the night. Is there anything I can do? Should I panic now?

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. I would recommend initiating a bland diet after withholding food for at least 12 hours. I would also consider adding in a probiotic such as Purina Fortiflora which can be found online or at your local pet store quite easily. If the vomiting persists or he becomes lethargic, I would try and get him to a veterinarian for an examination and diagnostic testing when you are able to. I hope this helps and that Salju gets better soon. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
