My rabbit is aggressive and biting. How can I stop her and help her get along?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | unspayed | 2.6 lbs

Paws has started to become more aggressive lately - she has started biting people she is used too. She and our other rabbit Honey never got on so I doubt that it is anything to do with smells that she is reacting to. She does live outside in an insulated hutch and she comes in for 30 minutes probably twice a day with 1 hour intervals in between for cuddles. Is there any way to teach her biting is wrong that she will understand? Is there any way to teach her and Honey to get along? Thanks

I am sorry that Paws has started acting out. I have a couple of suggestions. First I would recommend an examination with a veterinarian to determine if she is painful anywhere. Often, just like us, they tend to have less tolerance if they are in pain. This can be something hiding from view such as oral pain or bladder stones which are both common in rabbits. Second, unspayed females tend to be more aggressive than spayed females. I would consider having her spayed, but there is no guarantee that it would improve her behavior. Best of luck and I hope she settles down soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
