Why is my dog's mouth hanging, drooling, not eating, and nervous?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Female | unspayed | 6 years and 6 months old | 10 lbs

Our dog's mouth is hanging with some white foamy drool on her lower lips. She's been like this since yesterday. She hasn't slept and is not eating. She used to be very noisy and active and now She's just in her bed looking nervous.

Poor girl. It sounds like she may have fractured her jaw. I would highly recommend taking her in to your local vet or ER vet right away for x-rays of her mouth and pain medication. I really hope that your pet Cookie will be ok. Other possibilities here are a tick paralysis or tetanus. Please have Cookie seen right away. Best of luck to you and take care.

I would recommend taking Cookie to a veterinarian if she is lethargic and not eating. The drooling can be from a few different things. She may have an upset stomach/stomach issue, she could have a problem with her teeth, she could be in pain and in result getting her to drool. Her symptoms are vague and could mean a lot of different things. Unfortunately without a complete physical examination trying to pinpoint the actual problem is difficult. Hope she feels better soon and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
