Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It looks like a skin growth or mass. Sadly many skin masses can look the same and we can not identify what they are based on a picture or an exam. If it has suddenly appeared or has grown or become more red, I recommend a Vet exam. They may want to do a fine needle aspirate (stick a needle in to the mass to remove cells) and send it to the lab to help identify what it could be. Sometimes we can know from the aspirate if it is cancerous or benign. Other possibilities are a skin infection, abscess or irritation. I hope this helps and I wish Sharon the very best!
