What is this skin lump on my puppy that she keeps chewing?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 8 months and 10 days old | 60 lbs

Can somebody tell me what this is... At first I thought it was a hematoma after being shot but the neighbors BB's gun but it won't go away and she chews on it every now and again... So that leaves me with some kinda tumor but I've heard there are some types of skin tumors that will go away on there own, idk my vet is pretty expensive so I hope to get some insights if I have to her to the vet?? She is pitbull and she is 8 months old

She is very young and for that reason a skin tumor is less likely (but not impossible), it's more likely to be a fungal or bacterial infection, it could also be an injury that did not heal well. you should take her to the vet ASAP in order to get that checked and treated.
