My dog ate something bad and is now gagging, salivating, and vomiting.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 65 lbs

My dog was licking something, I'm not sure what it was because it was dark. Then she got restless walking around the room. Gagging and excessively licking her lips. I got up and she paced around salivating and kicking her lips. She drank some water. I let her outside and she threw up a small amount, mostly saliva and 2 pieces of food. She's still salivating a lot. She's a 4 year old silver lab.

She has probably eaten something spoiled outside that is causing this. withhold food for 12 hours then offer her boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if she is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put her back gradually on her normal food. If she continues vomiting or is not eating, take her to the vet to get treatment.
