My dog is in pain. What human meds can I give her before euthanasia?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Saint Bernard | Female | unspayed | 8 years and 9 months old | 125 lbs

Sasha will be put down at home as soon as the vet can get here. I been hospitalized, had no pay, borrowed all I can for the vet. I know she shouldn't have people medication, I have no way to get her anything else, she will only be alive a day or 2 until the vet comes to put her to sleep, in the meantime she is in pain, I have acetaminophen, prescription ibuprofen, aspirin, excedrin. What of those would ease her pain? How much? til the vet gets here to put her to sleep? These are my only options

I’m sorry Sasha is in pain. There is a section on this website about human medications you can give your dog with the dosage, precautions etc. I recommend looking up the dosage and precautions for aspirin as that is what I would give her from the choices you have.
