Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 5 months old | 40 lbs

I found this on my dog behind his ear.. it is getting bigger. Should he been seen or is this something that will take care of itself?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could potentially be an abscess. I would highly recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. This is usually treated with local therapy with drainage, flushing and and debridement as well as systemic antibiotics. Good luck and have a good night!
