My dog's nail is half broken, loose, and painful. What should I do?

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Labrador | Male | 6 years old | 90 lbs

My dog led nail is half broken but it's is attached to other half. The nail is very loosely attached and if I slightly touch oty dog feel pain. Please help me with this.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. I would recommend soaking the foot in a betadine and saline mixture. I typically recommend mixing the two until you have a light brown solution. Then use this to dip the foot into to help clean off any infection. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine this more closely as the nail likely needs to be cut off and Tyson placed on a course of an oral antibiotic.
