I have a two year old Red Rhode Island hen (1 of 4 total backyard hens). The girls hav been really healthy so far but all of the sudden this one (Serena) sleeps A LOT during the day for the past few days and seems to be thinning feathers on her chest. She’s not walking weird or anything.

Sleeping a lot is a very vague sign, so it would be hard to tell what is going on. Anything from regular molting, to something such as an underlying illness or even being broody can all cause a hen to become sleepy or want to spend more time in the coop. Watching for other signs and symptoms may help clue you into the issue. Is she laying on eggs? Is she eating and drinking? Normal stools or diarrhea? Being picked on by other birds? Any visible injuries? etc. If she is ill or being picked on, removing her from the flock for a few days, keeping her warm and with easy access to food and water may help. If she's feeling broody, removing any eggs may help as well.
