My dog has a new dot or line in his eye. Is it a pigment spot?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 4 months old | 55 lbs

Recently I’ve noticed something strange in my dogs eye. As shown in the picture, it’s like a dot or a line in the white area of my dogs eye. This was never here before and I’m worrying now. He is a 1 year old Pitbull. I can’t figure what it is, Any help would be great, thank you!

I think you are talking about the black spot close to the corner of his eye (by the nose right?). That black area may be nothing more than a pigment spot which dogs can develop. I don't see any outward signs of irritation. Since its hard to say what that is from the photo, you should probably take Hunter in for any exam. Exams of the eye include actually looking into the eye itself, so photos are only good for a small amount of conditions. I suspect this is something benign but best to have it checked out.
