My dog has fleas & itching. Shampoo/collar failed. What can I do?

How to you help with itching and fleas. I got shampoo but it's not working well and I'm afraid the flea collar will cause hair loss. He's developing small wounds where he digs too much and I'm not sure what I can do at home to help.

Hello, and thank you for your question. I'm sorry to hear your little guy has fleas. Over the counter flea medications are notoriously unreliable, and can even be toxic to young dogs like Bruiser. I would discontinue the shampoo and collar, and get a flea control product from your veterinarian, which will be safe for your pup, very effective, and quick to work. The vet may also be able to prescribe some anti-inflammatory medications and creams to help improve Bruiser's skin and comfort while the flea medication starts to work. It is also important to treat any other pets in the household at the same time, to completely eradicate the fleas. Unfortunately I am not aware of any other home remedies that will help, beyond just bathing him with a gentle aloe/oatmeal type shampoo to help provide some temporary relief. I hope this helps, and that Bruiser starts to feel better soon!
