Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | spayed | 2 years and 2 months old | 17 lbs
I gave my dog a chew toy yesterday and she wouldn’t let it go. She kept it in her mouth the whole time and kept whining. She wouldn’t even take it out of her mouth to eat or drink. When it was taken off her she’d cry and stick her tongue out and stray panting. I just want to know if its normal for dogs to do this. She is a 2 year old female shih tzu

IF it is was stuck or caught in her mouth where she could not get it out if she wanted to then I would not worry. I would question her heat cycle though. If there is milk development and she is not bred, she may be going through a false pregnancy. If this is the case they often will find a toy or stuffed animal to carry around and care for similar to a real puppy. This will pass when the hormones changes but it is best to get her spayed then.
