Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 7 days old | 25 lbs
i have a 4mo pitbull that just started eating her stool as soon as she goes. she already has tapeworm and is currently on meds(3days now, have to give her meds for 5days) but as soon as she goes she turns around & eats it up which makes me think she is eating bk up the worms she poops out. how can i stop her from doing that?

This is called coprophagy and often times puppies will outgrow this behavior. She may be ingesting the tapeworm segments but dogs don't get tapeworms this way. They only get tapeworms by eating fleas that are infected with the tapeworm larvae. So, you don't have to worry about her re-infecting herself. This is a product that you put on her food. It is supposed to make the poop tastes awful so the dog doesn't want to eat it. http://www.allivet.com/p-1193-for-bid.aspx The only other thing you can do is pick up the poop as soon as she goes to the bathroom.
