My senior dog has a cloudy eye and a new dark spot. Is it serious?

My 13yo hound mix has something going on with her eye. Her eyes have been cloudy for a few years, but now it appears that I can see through one, and there's a dark spot that I noticed tonight. The dark spot looks like a contact lense that's on the bottom half of her eye(the top sits below the centerline of her pupil). I got a good photo of it, but it doesn't seem I can share it here. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 45 lbs

It's only possible to share pictures on private consultations, but it sounds like an ulcer possibly, you should take her to the vet ASAP in order to get the eye checked and treated, the sooner the better as if left untreated there will be permanent eye damage.
