My dog drags her butt on the floor. Is it worms or a vet visit?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Female | spayed | 5 years and 11 months old

My dog drags her but across the floor a lot, is it worms? If so is there anything I can do at home or is it better to go to the vet?

Great questions! Yes, this can be a sign of worms, but it can also be a sign of anal sac impaction. I would take Chikis into the vet, and bring along a sample of her feces with you for the vet to examine under the microscope. The vet can examine her feces for signs of worms, and prescribe a deworming treatment for it. If her anal sacs are impacted, the vet can express them. I would bring her into the vet either today or tomorrow during normal business hours.
