My puppy has fleas even after baths. What's the best solution?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 26 days old | 10 lbs

I just got a new German Shepherd Lab mix puppy and he is covered in fleas. I've given him two very long baths using dawn soap and warm water and there are still a lot of fleas. Help me please.

Unfortunately bathing Maximillian will not help getting rid of the fleas, you will need to buy a good quality flea treatment. As you bathed him, you will need to wait 3 days in order to use any topical spot on treatment, otherwise it will not work, but you can instead use an oral tablet. here is the list of the best flea products on the market. Spot ons: Revoulution Advantage Advantage Multi Frontline (ticks as well) Tablets: Trifexis/comfortis Bravecto (ticks as well) Collar: Seresto ( (ticks as well) House spary: Indoorex

You will need to get some Frontline spray from a pet store and apply the spray to your puppy according to the instructions on the bottle. You will also need to get flea powder and put it into your vacuum cleaner and vacuum your place very frequently as the fleas may have already laid eggs in your house. As the larvae hatch they will then get killed by the flea powder. Make sure you also vacuum your furniture and wash the puppy's bedding.
