Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male

Hi. My indian ringneck lost his feathers since more than a year and never got it back. Took him to many vets but no one gave me the right solution although i gave him lots of vitamins from the vets. He has lots of toys but most of his day sleeping or resting and the rest playing. He is about 2 years now and with me since april 2016. Any advice, treatment or solution for him to get his feathers back Appreciate your help Thanks

Hi, The first thing to do (if not done already) would be to test Nimo for Psittacine beak and feather disease virus. If found positive then you have your answer. This is a viral disease that causes feather abnormalities in RN parakeets. Blood and/or feathers can be submitted through your vet for DNA testing for the virus.
