All dogs should have at least a rabies vaccine and distemper/parvovirus (DHPP) combination vaccine. If your dog has never had vaccines, he will need to be boosted with the distemper/parvovirus combination in 3-4 weeks. The rabies vaccine he gets will be a 1 year vaccine and next year he can get a 3 year booster. If there is a Petco/Vetco near you, then you can have him vaccinated there. You will get a free exam, they will deworm him for intestinal parasites, and he should get his first distemper/parvovirus vaccination. You don’t need bordatella, leptospirosis, or influenza. Depending on where you live I recommend starting him on heartworm prevention too. He will need two additional sets of vaccinations each a month apart. He’ll get his rabies vaccination at the last visit. They will go over the package costs so you will be able to plan ahead. He can start with his first distemper/parvovirus combination vaccine. This will need to be boosted in 4 weeks and again in 8 weeks. He can get a Rabies vaccine when he is 12 weeks old or more. There are vaccines that are given based on lifestyle and risk of exposure. These include Lyme Disease, Leptospirosis, Canine flu and Bordatella (kennel cough). Discuss with your vet what Major's lifestyle will be to determine if he will need any of these. He should also be dewormed at least twice then place on a monthly heartworm preventative as well as a flea and tick preventative. If you take him to a Petco/Vetco location, you can see prices at the link below. If you go to another veterinary clinic, you can request an estimate for services before anything is done. Most clinics will provide one as a matter of hospital policy. https://www.vetcoclinics.com/services-and-clinics/vaccination-packages-and-prices/
