My dog has a hard fur patch with a red sore underneath. What is it?

My dog had a hard patch in his fur tonight, wasn't sure what it was I gave him a bath thinking he may of rolled in something ? It seems there's a sore underneath ? The scab has now washed away , It looks red and sore however he's not bothered by it one bit any ideas what this is ? He's 11 years old really happy and well in himself ? Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Male | unneutered | 11 years old | 24 lbs

It does seem infected and the best thing to do is clean it like you have already. It maybe from a bite and he has scratched it to make it worse. Since you already cleaned it, apply neosporin to keep the scab from forming and help heal it. If it is not better in a a day or so then I would have your vet checked it
