Vomiting can be a symptom of many causes. If you have recently changed the diet or added in a new treat then this could be due to a dietary indiscretion. Many cases of gastrointestinal upset can be linked to dietary or intestinal bacteria problems. I would start by switching the diets to a novel protein, which is a protein source that has never been given before. An example of this would be if a dog had been on chicken its entire life, a novel protein would be something that the dog has never had such as salmon or venison. I would also consider adding a probiotic such as Purina fortiflora. If the vomiting does not improve with diet change or introduction of a probiotic, then I would have a veterinarian take a look at him and have further testing done to help determine what the possible cause could be. If your dog is one to get into trash or chew toys and swallow them then the vomiting could be secondary to a intestinal foreign body. Abdominal x-rays or an abdominal ultrasound would help potentially detect a foreign body and this may be something to consider if the vomiting persists.
