My dog is coughing but seems fine. Is it contagious to other dogs?

My dog has a cough but no other symptoms. Would I be okay to bring her around other dogs? She mainly coughs when she gets excited but there is the occasional cough when she is resting. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 6 months and 3 days old | 18 lbs

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Given her age and clinical symptoms, one of the possibilities is Kennel cough which is contagious. For this reason I recommend that Sammy is kept away from other dogs until she is evaluated for further assessment. Other possibilities include pneumonia, bronchitis, among other possibilities. Your veterinarian could potentially prescribe antibiotics which could help with a possible infectious process. If your veterinarian suspects Kennel cough after evaluation, it would be best to keep her away from other dogs until signs resolve. Good luck and have a good day!
