Is it normal for my 4-month-old puppy to pee inside sometimes?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 3 months and 10 days old | 21 lbs

My puppy is almost 4 months old. He knows to potty outside, but maybe 3 times a week he randomly pees in the house.. is this normal? As soon as we take him out he goes to the bathroom.. and we take him out every 1-2 hours just to make sure. He is a lab/shepherd mix. He seems really intelligent.. just not sure why he randomly goes in the house. Thanks

This is pretty typical puppy behavior and will likely be something Cash grows up out of with time and bladder development. To only be having a few mistakes in a week's time is actually really great for this age, so good work for him and you.
