I am thinking my 15 year old cat named spike had a seizure last night but it only lasted about 1 minute. Then he kept yowling afterwards when he has never been the type of cat to meow often. He had since been fine but I am wondering what I can do to prevent this from happening again?

The best thing you can do for Spike at this time is to have him examined by your veterinarian. There may be an underlying issue that caused the seizures that you can easily prevent. Your vet will most likely want to perform lab work to rule out several common diseases of older cats such as diabetes, kidney failure, and hyperthyroidism. Your vet may also recommend an anti-seizure medication to prevent any further seizure activity. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck.
