My cat is scratching behind ear, has bald spot. What should I do?

Hi! My cat has scratches behind his right ear (i can email you the picture) and the spot became bald. What should i do? What can i treat it with and will the hair grow back?

Poor zorro! He could have an ear infection or ear mites that is causing him to scratch that area so much. I would have your vet take a look at him. Your vet will be able to determine why he is scratching so much and start him on the proper meds to make him feel better. There are some over the counter ear mite medicines but most of them don’t work. And there are not any good over the counter ear meds for an infection. You can try 1 teaspoon of children’s Benadryl to help with itching to see if that helps. Yes, the hair will grow back once she stops scratching at that area. If that area is raw, you can put some neosporin on that area twice a day. You can also put a cone collar on her to prevent her from scratching. I hope this helps!
