What does it mean when a cat rubs/ scratches his rear in the carpet (He's male and every month or too he does it once or twice). Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered

Usually they are trying to express their anal glands (scent glands that live just inside the rectum). If it is just occasionally then I wouldn’t be too worried, however if he is licking his rear end a lot, or the rubbing is frequent, or if you happen to see any blood then he should be seen by a veterinarian.
