What OTC can I give my dog for itchy skin from seasonal allergies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | unneutered | 5 years and 8 months old | 8 lbs

My dog has some seasonal allergies and his skin is always red and itchy, is there something over the counter that I can give him to help relieve the itch? I've been giving him 5mg of liquid benedryl but I can't give him too much of that. He's an 8lb yorkie

That is all you can at home besides a weekly to twice a week bath in a medicated shampoo. I would make sure you are on a good flea preventative and that a flea allergy is not a possibility. Environmental allergens may also be making this worse and they do have prescription medicine to help the itch that your vet can get you
