My new cat is missing. Will a lost cat find its way back home?

My mom dropped off 2 cats for me to watch and when I left they were both hiding under the couch. When I came home one was missing. If he got out what are the chances he comes back on his own? Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 6 years and 11 months old | 12 lbs

Cats are really good at hiding when they are scared. Look in closets and cabinets, top of book cases. Since he doesn’t know your house and area I would not expect him to come back if he did escape. However, you may want to look in the bushes around your house and several neighbors. If he is microchipped then call the company and alert that he is missing and update all contact information. Good luck! I hope you find him.
