Why is my dog's skin red and round after a tick was removed?

Hi my beagle had a nymph tick and his skin is know very bright red colored in round shape.

If you removed the tick please clean the area with antibacterial soap and apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on it. Often when ticks have been attached the area will remain red, swollen and inflamed for two weeks so what you are describing is normal. Usually they go away and do not cause a problem. Should your dog not feel well or become lame please mention the tick attachment to your veterinarian so they can test for tick borne diseases.
