Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 7 months old | 9.5 lbs
2 mos ago I took my cat to the vet because her ear was twitching excessively & she kept scratching it. Vet said it was nothing & 2 wks later she was scratching again. I took her again & he said she had a ruptured ear drum but that it was healing on its own & there was nothing he could give her. 2 weeks after that I took her to get a 2nd opinion because she was still scratching. The other vet told me the exact same thing. Today she is STILL scratching & I don't know what to do. What could it be?

If her ear drum is ruptured, there needs to be a cause. She may need to be sedated and have her ear flushed and cultured to see what bacteria is growing and make sure she is placed on the correct antibiotics with anti inflammatory drugs to control the symptoms and correct the problem. When she is sedated, they can examine the ear much better and not cause her any pain. I would also consider a food allergy, you can look into changing her food to a hypoallergenic diet.
