Why did my 5-month-old kitten suddenly stop eating after vet visit?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | 4 months and 22 days old | 5.6 lbs

My 5 month old kitten stopped eating suddenly. He saw the vet 10 days ago for shots and deworming (had not been to a vet before- that was his first visit) We adopted him 4 weeks ago.

I'm sorry to hear Buddy isn't feeling well. Without seeing him it's hard to say what caused the sudden inappetance. I doubt it is related to his recent vet visit. If he isn't vomiting or having diarrhea I would offer some canned kitten food to see if he will eat. If he doesn't eat longer than 24 hours I would take him to the vet for an exam and find out why he isn't eating. I would worry his blood sugar will drop too low if he doesn't eat. Good luck and kisses to Buddy!
