My dog has small, hard, multiplying bumps all over. What is it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 3 months old | 27 lbs

My dog has small bumps all over his body, it started off as just a couple and now they are multiplying. They are hard and they don't seem like they are able to pop. They don't seem to bother him much at all is this something that is common and something I can help with? They are pretty hard to see because they are the color of his skin but they are definitely noticeable when you feel them.

Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach! It is difficult to tell exactly what the bumps are from the photos. It is possible that these bumps are part of a skin infection. I would suggest using a shampoo such as Duoxo Chlorhexidine PS combination shampoo and bathe twice weekly until resolved. I would give it 2-3 weeks of using the shampoo before seeing 100% improvement. If the bumps are still there in 2-3 weeks are are worsening over the next 2-3 weeks, I would get Jack seen by his veterinarian for an exam, further testing and treatment. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other concerns.
