My dog is shaking his head and his ear hurts. What could be wrong?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | 1 year and 11 months old | 48 lbs

My 2 year lurcher keeps shaking his head as if some think stuck on his ears i have checked for ticks and there is nothing there but it hurt him when I look inside his ear

Hi there! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Head shaking can be due to an ear infection or ear mites for example. I recommend that you have your pup evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. It is very important to proceed with an evaluation soon as head shaking can result in an ear hematoma which can be tough to deal with and can be painful. Good luck!
