Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 10 lbs
Combed house cat, found fleas. Applied a flea treatment 1 week ago, and applied flea powder throughout the apartment, however cat is still itching, and showing signs of flea dirt. What do I do?

Flea powders do not work well for environmental control. That is best treated with the foggers but you have to get everyone and the animals out for a few hours. The itching can last for 3-4 weeks from previous flea bites so if it is bad he may need medicine from your vet to keep him comfortable while things gets under control. Flea topicals only work when a flea gets on the cat... so anything in the environment that still gets on him will ingest the medicine and then die, so this is why you are still seeing flea dirt. If you keep with regular flea control for 3-4 months, you can get ahead of the life cycle and the problem will be taken care of
